Neurological Test Preparation Guide
EEG (Electroencephalogram)
Before the Test
- Wash hair the night before
- Avoid hair products
- Get adequate sleep
- Take regular medications
- Avoid caffeine
- Eat normally
During the Test
- Lie still
- Follow technician’s instructions
- May need to breathe deeply
- May need to look at flashing lights
- Test duration: 1-2 hours
After the Test
- Wash hair to remove gel
- Resume normal activities
- Wait for results
- Follow up with doctor
EMG/NCS (Electromyography/Nerve Conduction Study)
Before the Test
- Avoid lotions or creams
- Wear comfortable clothing

- Eat normally
