Neurological Test Preparation Guide

EEG (Electroencephalogram)

Before the Test

  • Wash hair the night before
  • Avoid hair products
  • Get adequate sleep
  • Take regular medications
  • Avoid caffeine
  • Eat normally

During the Test

  • Lie still
  • Follow technician’s instructions
  • May need to breathe deeply
  • May need to look at flashing lights
  • Test duration: 1-2 hours

  • Wash hair to remove gel

EMG/NCS (Electromyography/Nerve Conduction Study)
